On 16 October 2024, at 10:15 am, Israeli warplanes carried out 10 airstrikes in Nabatiye (Al Nabatieh, Al Nabatieh). 16 people were killed, including the city's mayor, employees of the Nabatieh Regional Center, members of the municipal council, 3 members of the Civil Defense, and citizens distributing food supplies, were killed as the town hall was targeted. 52 people were wounded. Dozens of cars were damaged. The Al-Nour Library of the city's university and the Fran commercial center were destroyed. This event is part of what the Israeli army called its 'new phase' of its war on Gaza, amid hostilities against Hezbollah.
