A man, identified as Maher Abdul Hamid al-Ahmad from Nahta town in eastern rural Daraa governorate who worked as a farm guard, was shot dead on October 15, 2024, by unidentified gunmen while he was on duty at the farm on the outskirts of his hometown. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Ahmad is a civilian who had never been involved with any military formation.
