Hoax event in Cherkasy, Ukraine on Mon 14th October 2024

The Cherkasy branch of Suspilnoy received a notification about landmines in its corporate e-mail. 

The representative of the Institute of Mass Information in the Cherkasy region, Yelena Shchepak, was informed about this by the manager of the Cherkasy branch of Suspilnoy Vita Kayuk.

According to her, the letter stated that explosives were planted in the premises of the TV channel.

"It was also said that if this information is not taken into account, people and property will suffer innocently," Kayuk added.

After receiving the letter, Vita Kayuk contacted the central directorate of Sospilny, and also called the police. The employees of the TV channel left the premises. Law enforcement officers are already working on the spot. 

"This is the first such notification during the period of a full-scale invasion," adds the manager of the Cherkasy branch of Suspilny. - This affects the team psychologically, besides, we are forced to break away from the work process, which is extremely important now."

At the same time, according to her, the editorial office continues to work. One of the film crews is filming, the digital department works remotely. "Everyone is looking for a network access point to continue working," adds Vita Kayuk.
