Seven people, including a refugee, were killed and more than 10 others were injured on Saturday, following new artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that “the Rapid Support Forces bombed El Fasher today, causing casualties in Abu Shouk El Hilla, Naivasha Market, and the South Sudanese refugee complex in the Daqagai neighborhood, around Naivasha Market.”

Citizen Ismail Abkar told Darfur 24 that the support forces fired about 8 random shells targeting various parts of Abu Shouk Al Hilla neighborhood, Daqagai neighborhood, and Naivasha market, resulting in 7 deaths, including refugees from South Sudan.

He revealed that more than 10 others were injured with varying injuries and were taken to the army's medical hospital.

Darfur 24 correspondent in El Fasher monitored a complete flight of citizens from Naivasha market coinciding with the moment of the random artillery shelling.

Last week, the Naivasha camp market witnessed continuous artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces, which resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens, forcing the authorities to close the market completely.

The Rapid Support Forces have been launching attacks on El Fasher since May 10, in an attempt to seize the army's last stronghold in Darfur, but it and the joint force allied with it are defending the city fiercely.
