On 19 August, 2019, Syrian and Russian warplanes carried out airstrikes on Heish in southern Idleb countryside amid regime barrel bomb deployment and artillery fire attacks on the city and the M5 highway near it, as a Turkish military convoy happened to be passing by. As a result, 3 civilians were killed and several others were wounded.
