Two cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were killed in an encounter that took place between Security Forces (SFs) and the CPI-Maoist in the Karkanguda Forest area near the banks of Chintawagu River under the Chintalnar Police Station limits in Sukma District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on September 24, reports etvbharat.com. Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Chavan claimed that the Maoists took the bodies of their two slain members with them. The search operation of the force is continuing in the area. It’s been reported that the Maoists during the gunfight were also firing Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) shells, signifying their capabilities to manufacture and use country made grenade launchers. A huge cache of material belonging to the Maoists has been recovered from the encounter site. The identities of the slain Maoists are yet to be ascertained.
