The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel of the Company Operating Base (COB) Bodigetta, 142 Bn BSF, unearthed an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) to target the Security Forces (SFs) during an anti-Naxal [left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation near the Gomphakonda irrigation canal at the foothills of the Bejangiwada Reserve Forest close to the Charkondal canal bridge near Bodigetta village under Kalimela Police Station limits in Malkangiri District of Odisha on September 19, reportsodishabhaskar.in. During the operation, BSF troops seized one steel Tiffin IED weighing around 1.5 kilogrammes, one electric detonator, and an electric wire. According to a release from the BSF, the IED was safely neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
