Five unknown gunmen raped two sisters yesterday, Sunday, in the town of Tabit, 45 kilometers south of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

Local sources in the town told Darfur 24, “Five gunmen riding three motorcycles attacked two sisters while they were on the farm, took them away at gunpoint, took turns raping them, and then fled.”

One of the sisters’ relatives, Mohammed Abdullah Ahmed, told Darfur 24 that the sisters were transferred to Zamzam camp, 15 kilometers west of Al-Fasher, for treatment and psychological support.

The sources indicated that the gunmen, after raping the two sisters, shot a sheikh of the Khalwa - a religious man - named Ahmed Jazayer, who was on his way to the village of Kadarik, causing his immediate death.

These days, the Tabet area is witnessing a terrible security chaos that has caused commercial activities in the town market to stop for months.
