Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres launched firing at the newly established Puvarti camp located on Bijapur-Sukma borders under the Jagargunda Police Station limits in Sukma District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on September 14, reports The Times of India. There were no casualties reported in the incident, and the attack was retaliated by the security personnel at the camp. The firing went on in brief intervals for fifteen minutes, and Maoists fired 15-20 rounds of Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs). Police said that the Naxalites [Left Wing Extremists, LWEs] surely targeted to kill security personnel. The jawans immediately took positions and retaliated the attack, forcing Maoists to retreat into the forest.
