IED event in Burkina Faso on Sun 25th August 2024

#Burkina 🇧🇫 | On 25/08 at around 5 p.m., several dozen Ansarul Islam terrorists ( #JNIM ) attacked Christian worshipers attending a religious service in #Kounla ( #Banwa , #Boucle_du_Mouhoun ). 🔴 26 male worshipers were tied to the ground and massacred by the terrorists. 🔵 Several compounds in the village were set on fire after being looted and livestock was also stolen. ⚫️ 2 terrorists were killed while fleeing by activating a #IED that they had installed themselves. 📷 Photos of this massacre were broadcast on social networks and certain media. 🔹 Following this attack, several hundred inhabitants of Kounla fled towards #Sanaba the south. 🔹 Some villagers reproach the #VDP of Sanaba for not having intervened until the next day. ⚠️ The terrorist attacks specifically directed against Christian faithful in Burkina Faso were until now mainly due to #EIGS and not #JNIM .
