Bomb threats disrupt schools across Germany, some linked to conflicts in Middle East BERLIN — In a development highlighting ongoing security concerns in Germany, several schools across the country have temporarily suspended operations after receiving bomb threats via email. The threats impacted schools in the states of Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Hamburg.
A spokesperson for the German police confirmed that 16 schools in western Brandenburg reported receiving threatening messages, although the exact contents of the emails were not disclosed.
Similarly, five schools in Hamburg were also targeted with threatening letters from unidentified sources, prompting thousands of students to remain at home. Authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate reported receiving similar threats, leading to precautionary closures of several schools in the state.
Although investigators have expressed skepticism regarding the credibility of the threats, they continue to investigate. Authorities believe the threats may be linked to the current tensions in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
