On September 1, 2024, a boy, identified as seven-year-old Mer’ie Faisal al-Mer’ie, was killed, and his cousin, identified as six-year-old Nayef Fawwaz al-Mer’ie, was injured, by the explosion of two cluster bomblets while they were playing on the outskirts of the two children’s home village of Suha in eastern rural Hama governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
