Gardai in Cork have launched two investigations following a petrol bomb attack as well as an incident where a grenade was thrown at a house.
A man has been arrested following a petrol bomb attack on a pub in Cork.
It’s understood the man first arrived to Murphy’s Rock Bar and Restaurant near Ballyvolane Cork but left after words were exchanged with a staff member only to return a few moment’s later with a slash hook.
He left the scene again this time in his car but returned a short time later and threw a petrol at the pub.
Three units of Cork City Fire service responded just before 11 pm and quickly dealt with the blaze.
Security staff at the pub managed to restrain the culprit and he was arrested by Gardai who also answered the 999 call.
The man who’s believed to be in his in his 30s and known to Gardai is currently in custody at Mayfield Garda Station.
Two people were treated at the scene for shock , the pub sustained no major damage.
