Five people were killed and others injured in clashes between members of the Rapid Support Forces on Monday in the city of Mellit, 65 km north of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
An eyewitness told Darfur 24 that a Rapid Support Force tasked with protecting the market, where movement is prohibited after 6 pm, was surprised by the entry of two Land Cruisers and a Hilux carrying an armed group, which led to a clash with them in the southeastern part of the market.
He explained that it turned out that the force belonged to the Rapid Support Forces and was coming from El Fasher.
He confirmed that the clashes left 5 dead and a number of wounded, in addition to burning a Land Cruiser and partially burning another, noting that the incident caused a number of detainees in the city to escape.

He pointed out that the sounds of gunfire filled the city for more than two hours before they stopped later.
