29th August 2024
Army's Bomb Disposal Team on August 29 neutralised a bomb discovered from the riverbank of the Teesta River at 20th Mile in Lower Bardang area of East Sikkim District in Sikkim, reports India TodayNE. According to Army officials, the bomb is believed to be a remnant of the arms and ammunition lost during the catastrophic Glacial Lake flood in North Sikkim in 2023. The devastating flood swept away a significant amount of military equipment and this recent discovery is thought to be part of that lost arsenal.
