The UK Maritime Trade Operations announced on Wednesday that a commercial ship was attacked with three shells in the Red Sea, which led to a fire on board and the ship drifting after losing control. The authority said in a statement via the X platform that it had received a report of “an accident 77 nautical miles west of Hodeidah in Yemen". "Later at 05:00 (GMT), the captain reported that the commercial ship was hit by two unknown shells, before being hit by a third shell, and no injuries were reported."

The Authority added that the ship drifted off the coast of Al Hudaydah Governorate, after losing control of it, following the failure of its engine and the outbreak of a fire on the board.
