A joint operation by Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police led to the recovery of a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in two militant hideouts in two separate Districts of Manipur on August 18, reports Northeast Now. Security Forces (SFs) conducted raids in Mission Veng of Kangpokpi District and Uyok Ching Leirongthel Pitra hills in Thoubal District based on specific intelligence. Encountering heavy resistance, militants fled the scene before the SFs could apprehend them. The recovered arsenal includes a 12-bore single barrel gun, a 9mm pistol, a .32 pistol, two tube launchers, MK III A2 grenade, two detonators, six HE-36 hand grenades, three arming rings, two Chinese hand grenades, 65 live ammunition rounds, five tear smoke shells, a stun grenade, a helmet, a walkie-talkie, a 7.62mm SLR with magazine, a bolt action rifle, and two 12-inch single bore barrel guns.
