Air Delivered event in Sudan on Tue 6th August 2024

An Armed Forces aircraft conducted an airstrike on El Geneina, targeting the Borsa area, east of the city, early Tuesday.

The strike occurred in an uninhabited region, resulting in no reported casualties or damage.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, an engineer, Mohammed Musa Al-Ghali, explained: “The military aircraft targeted the eastern part of the city with two bombs, but there was no damage to property.”

“The bombing has caused fear and terror among the residents,” he continued.

Al-Ghali called on the warring parties to respect civilians in areas not directly involved in fighting, emphasizing that they were the sole victims in such events. He expressed his hope for an end to the war and urged the warring parties to attend the Geneva negotiations scheduled for August 14 to end the conflict and alleviate the suffering of the people.

Human rights lawyer and member of El Geneina Emergency Room Fakhruddin Abbakar Zakaria condemned the violations against civilians, particularly the repeated airstrikes.

“The bombing that occurred this morning did not result in any casualties as it took place in an unpopulated area,” noted Zakaria.

He called on the international community to impose a ban on military flights over Darfur.

A resident, Hamid Amin Hamid, expressed his outrage and discontent over the airstrikes, demanding the implementation of a flight ban over the Darfur states.
