On 20 July 2024, Israeli fighter jets conducted 2 strikes on the Ras al Kathib power station near Dayr al Afif on the coastline north of Al Hudaydah city (Bajil, Al Hudaydah) that damaged 7 diesel tanks and put the station temporarily out of service, cutting of electricity in Al Hudaydah city. Casualties unknown. The strikes were part of Israeli Operation Outstretched Arm that struck Al Hudaydah - Port and the Ras al Kathib power station near Dayr al Afif as a response to a Houthi drone strike that killed 1 person in Tel Aviv on 19 July. They were the first Israeli strikes on Yemen.
