On 23 July 2024, in Shwe Hlay village (Chaung-U township, Monywa district, Sagaing region), following the armed clash between the People's Defense Force - Chaung-U and the Myanmar military near Kan Gyi Kone village at 9:45 am (coded separately), the military launched airstrikes on Shwe Hlay village using an Mi-35 helicopter gunship at around 12:30 pm. Three locals, including a 90-year-old man, sustained injuries, and a monastery and five houses were damaged.
