A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) when a team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Maoist operation in a jungle area on a hill near Tumar Gatta and Singavaram villages under Jagargunda Police Station limits in Sukma District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on July 20 (today), reports The New Indian Express. Following input about the presence of Maoists belonging to their Jagargunda area committee, the operation was launched. "After the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Naxalite [Left Wing Extremist, LWE], along with one muzzle-loading gun, a wireless set, explosives, and Maoist-related material, were recovered from the spot," a senior official said. The identity of the Maoist is yet to be established.
