Grenade event in Chhattisgarh, Elmidi, Bijapur District area, India on Fri 19th July 2024

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed in an encounter with joint Security Forces (SFs) of Telangana’s Greyhounds and a team of Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guards (DRG) during a search operation in the forests of Semaldodi in the Elmidi area in Bijapur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on July 19, reports The Times of India. As the Maoists began indiscriminate firing, an encounter broke out between SFs and Maoists. When the Maoists couldn’t take it any longer, they fled into the dense forest. Eventually, the security personnel, while sanitising the site of the encounter, recovered the body of one Maoist along with one carbine, grenade, Maoist uniform, Pitthu, and Maoist literature. The identity of the slain Maoist is yet to be determined.
