15th July 2024
On 15 July 2024, between 12:00 pm and 6:30 pm Sanaa time, Houthi forces fired 4 anti-ship ballistic missiles targeting the Bentley I oil products tanker (IMO: 9253129) in the South Red Sea around 70 nm southwest of Al Hudaydah claiming affiliation with companies in violation of the Houthi ban to call at Israeli ports. There were no fatalities or injuries as the missiles impacted the water in close proximity to the ship with the closest ones landing around 10-15 m from the ship. Houthi forces had attacked the ship earlier in the day exchanging fire with the armed security team on board the ship. The Bentley I was owned by an Israel-registered company and carrying vegetable oil from Russia to China.
