On 17 July 2024, in Kyan Taw village (Saw township, Gangaw district, Magway region), the Myanmar military artillery battalion based in Kyauk Htu town fired 120 mm heavy weapons around 8 pm, which fell and exploded into the village and killed a 55-year-old man. A 63-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were also injured. Locals were forced to flee due to the heavy weapons.
