On 17 July 2024, two STF personnel were killed in an IED explosion suspectedly planted by Naxal-Maoist cadres in the Tarrem area (Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh) while returning from a search operation. They were part of a joint team of security forces including STF, DRG, CoBRA, and CRPF from Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts. The operation was launched based on intelligence indicating the presence of Naxal-Maoist cadres of Darbha Division, West Bastar Division, and Military Company No. 2 in the border area between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts.
