At 01:00 on the night of Sunday, a car was blown up in a parking lot in Rud in Karlstad.

At 00:53, the police start receiving several calls about a loud bang in Karlstad.

- We go there and can ascertain that a car has been blown up in a parking lot, says Matilda Borgström, officer on duty at the Bergslagen police region.

The explosion is described as very powerful, according to Aftonbladet.

No one was injured and the area was cordoned off.

- We have not had to evacuate any nearby buildings.

A preliminary investigation into public-dangerous devastation has been initiated. The National Bomb Squad was also alerted to the scene.
