An area in Kristinehamn has been cordoned off after a powerful explosion in a container, on the night of Friday. The police's National Bomb Squad has been sent to the scene.

Just before 02:00, an alarm came from several people who heard a strong explosion which then started a fire, which NWT was the first to report on.

- It is a container for paper and newspapers that has been blown up, says Mats Öhman, press spokesperson at the Bergslagen police region.

SOS Alarm states that the fire was quickly extinguished, and that the emergency services were able to leave the scene after approximately 30 minutes

An area at the recycling station at Karlagatan, on the outskirts of Kristinehamn, is cordoned off. The police bomb technician is on site during Friday morning for investigation.

No one should have been injured in connection with the incident.
