Twelve Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were killed and two security personnel were injured in an encounter between C60 commandos and Maoists in Wandoli village in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on July 17, reports Telangana Today. Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) Nilotpal said the Police have recovered 12 bodies of Maoists from the spot, along with seven automotive weapons, including 3 AK-47s, 2 INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifles, a carbine, and an SLR (self-loading rifle). Two of the dead Maoists were identified as ‘Divisional Committee Member (DVCM)’ Laxman Atram alias Vishal Atram, who was in charge of the Tipagad Dalam (armed squad), and Sarite Parsa, an Area Committee Member (ACM)’. “Further identification of the Maoists and area searches are ongoing,” the SP said. “The injured persons include a sub-inspector of C 60 and one jawan. They are out of danger, evacuated from the spot, and shifted to Nagpur,” the SP added.
