The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on July 10 arrested a high-profile Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist, who was planning to attack a Muharram procession in Karachi, from Ittehad Town of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. Addressing a press conference, CTD Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Asif Ijaz Sheikh said that the arrested terrorist – identified as Muhammad Shuaib – was planning to attack an attack on a procession on 8th Muharram in Karachi’s Orangi Town. DIG Asif Ijaz Sheikh said the CTD team has arrested Shoaib from Ittehad Town and recovered a suicide jacket from the arrested terrorist. “He [the terrorist] had joined the TTP after arriving in Karachi,” he added.
