IED event in Madhya Pradesh, Kothiyatola forests, Balaghat District area, India on Mon 8th July 2024

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Sohan alias Ukas alias Aytu, an expert in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and carrying a reward of INR 1.4 million, was gunned down in an encounter in the Kothiyatola forests in Balaghat District of Madhya Pradesh on July 8, reports The Indian Express. “The Naxalite, Sohan, aged 30, was a resident of Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. He was involved in Naxalite activities in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra and was an Area Committee Member (ACM) of the KB division (Kanha National Park and Bhoramdeo Wildlife Sanctuary). A .315 bore rifle and a Kenwood wireless set were recovered,” Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jaideep Prasad said.
