On Wednesday July 17, 2024, armed men identified as rebels from the Forces Démocratiques et Alliées (ADF) once again raided Kazaroho and Malyajame, two entities located not far from the Babila-Bakaiku Mamove community, west of the commune of Oïcha, in the Beni territory of North Kivu.

Contacted by Actu30.cd, Bravo Vukulu, former president of civil society in the Bambumba-Kisiki grouping, reports that the provisional death toll from this attack is 5 people killed in Kazaroho and a house burnt down in Malyajame.

"It's been almost 4 days since suspicious movements by ADF rebels were reported in Kazaroho, Mamove, Malyajame, Mabuo and surrounding areas. Now, on the Oïcha-Mamove stretch, these rebels have signed off their incursion. The provisional toll is 5 civilians killed, 2 motorcycles and a house set on fire. The bodies of those killed are being taken to the Oïcha hospital morgue", he says.

Furthermore, this former member of local civil society points out that this situation has led to a new wave of displacement of the population towards supposedly safe areas. He therefore calls for the reinforcement of security measures in the area.
