Around 9 July 2024 (as reported), Houthi forces claimed a drone attack targeting the Marathopolis container ship (IMO: 9477804) in the Arabian Sea (coded to West Arabian Sea) claiming affiliation with companies in violation of the Houthi ban to call at Israeli ports. There were no fatalities or injuries as the drone likely impacted the water before reaching the intended target. The attack was not confirmed by other sources. The Marathopolis had left Mombasa in Kenya on 4 July and arrived at Salalah in Oman on 9 July passing through the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea.
