On 1 July 2024, Al Shabaab launched four rounds of mortar shells toward the Southwest State Presidential Palace neighborhood in Baidoa town (Baydhaba, Bay). One mortar landed in civilian residential areas. At least three civilians were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
