Around 1 July 2024 (as reported), Houthi forces claimed a cruise missile attack targeting the Anvil Point ro-ro cargo ship (IMO: 9248540) in the Indian Ocean claiming UK affiliation of the ship. There were no fatalities or injuries as the missiles likely impacted the water before reaching the intended target. The attack was not confirmed by other sources with the operators of the ship refuting the claim. The Anvil Point was UK-flagged, owned, operated, and managed by UK-based companies, and worked as an auxiliary military sealift ship for the UK Royal Navy. The Anvil Point left Duqm in Oman on 28 for Mombasa in Kenya where it arrived on 4 July after sailing through the Indian Ocean.
