On 2 July 2024, in Thar Ra Hpon (West) village (Tanintharyi township, Myeik district, Tanintharyi region), the military deliberately conducted airstrikes by dropping six bombs on a village school at around 12:30 pm. Some of the bombs landed in a stream near the school. A 15-year-old Grade 9 student was injured by the bombs. Another student was also injured while fleeing.
