During the night of Wednesday, the police were alerted to a shooting in Åkersberga north of Stockholm. One person has been taken to hospital.

The alarm came in to the police at 01:18 that a man had been shot indoors, according to the police.

The man, who is aged 35, was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter. He must have been awake and talkative.

- He was conscious. We had a patrol that applied first aid until the helicopter took him to hospital, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesperson at Police Region Stockholm.

After the shooting, the perpetrator or persons must have disappeared from the scene. The police searched for them by helicopter, and during the morning one person had been arrested.

- It is an adult man who has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences, says police spokesperson Per Fahlström.

The police have secured leads, but do not go into details about what for some. The incident is classified as attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.
