While clearing a vacant lot in Queens, NYC sanitation workers found one depleted uranium (DU) shield and the remains of 3 to 4 plastic outer-packs from Mallinckrodt manufactured Mo/Tc radiopharmaceutical generators. The items appeared to be licensed to NYC Licensee C5413 Triad Isotopes - following inquiries with Triad, it was ascertained that five spent generators were lost while on their way to be returned to Mallinckrodt via their contractor MDS. The DU shield was being secured in NYC while waiting to be retrieved by Triad.
