The licensee, Can Metals LTD, reported that one of their employees stole a Thermo Niton device while in Mexico to analyze materials for purchase by the company. The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) stated that he did not believe the employee had come to any harm in Mexico, but rather that he had deliberately ceased communication with the licensee, and noted that the licensee believed the employee had recently purchased a new home in the State of Arizona and was probably there, but neither the device nor the employee had been located. The RSO opined that no individual would receive any exposure due to this event.
