Floods caused by typhoon Hagibis swept away bags of radioactive waste from several storage sites in Fukushima Prefecture. The Japanese Environment Ministry reported that 36 out of the 90 bags are still unaccounted for after searches. Many of the recovered bags had leaked. An official of the Tamura Municipal Government stated that they had not secured the bags well enough.
