The Colorado Radiation Program investigated a scrap yard where a radiation detector was set off by a crushed car. A metal plate was found containing RA226 with readings of over 200 mR/hr. The item is locked in a room on the property, and the owner of the property is aware that no one is allowed to approach it. The Colorado Civil Support Team will secure the source at the site after verifying the isotope and measuring dose rate and activity.
