On September 8,2015, the Kentucky Radiation Health Branch (KY RHB) was informed of a rail car emitting radiation. On site personnel measured the exposure rates and then returned the car to its original facility on the same day. On September 9, RHB inspectors went to investigate the site and discovered at least two Ra-226 static eliminator bars in the facility's metal shredding equipment, which are likely the source of the radiation. RHB is still investigating this case.
