On July 13, 2015, a source triggered radiation alarms at Middlepoint Landfill, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. On July 16, Tennessee Radiological Health Division staff went back to further test it and confirmed that it was an AM241 source. On July 17, Division staff found the device containing AM241 to be a backscatter gauge and transport it to the office to conduct a test. Division will return the device to the manufacturer on August 13, 2015.
