On January 27, 2015, a Thermo Fisher XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) Analyzer, model XLP 818 (SN 13149), was stolen from Metro Metal Recycling, LLC. The Vice President of Metro Metals Recycling, LLC did not contact the Department of Health to report the device stolen. He did notify local police and obtained a police report. An unknown suspect broke into the office ans stole the device from an unlocked drawer. The Department of Health discovered the theft upon contacting Metro Metal Recycling, LLC about a separate matter.
