CBRN event in Slaskie, Koniecpol area, Poland on Wed 15th January 2014

On January 15, 2014, a beaverboard manufacturing plant KZPP, in Koniecpol, Poland conducted a radioactive source verification and reported the dissapearance of a CO60 source. This occurred at the facility where inspectors from the Radiological Protection Department of the PAA (Polish National Atomic Energy Agency) were to perform a planned regulatory inspection and which is going through bankcruptcy insolvency process.The current activity of the lost source is 0.5 GBq. The source was being used in the fill level gauge in the process of beaverboard production and it was in its shielded container. Further inspection at the facility yielded no results nor did it reveal any radioactive contamination.
