Knauff Insulation was requested by the NRC to investigate a missing Perkin-Elmer gas chromatograph electron capture detector containing 15 mCi Ni-63 source. The licensee was unable to locate the device. A fire at the Perkin-Elmer facility destroyed numerous records, making it impossible to determine the source's location or if it had been decomissioned.
