In September 2013, an inspection conducted by the Nuclear Security Authority (ASN) in order to verify the inventory of radioactive sources held by the University Hospital Center of Nantes, France, confirmed the absence of 7 radioactive sources. The following were confirmed missing: 5 sources of CO57 that were acquired between 1985 and 1990, 1 source of SR90 acquired in 1993 and 1 source of I129 acquired in 1973. The Hospital Center’s General Director addressed a declaration to the ASN in December 24 2013 regarding the loss of these radioactive sources.
