In June 2015, France's Bordeaux University prevention service discovered two radioactive sources (a vial of Technetium 99 and a sealed jar of an unspecified radioactive element) during housekeeping in a laboratory, which does not have a license for holding radioactive materials. After their discovery, the sources were transferred to a secure storage facility. On September 4th, 2015, the university's radiation protection service identified the source and its activity. The French Nuclear Safety Authority completed an examination of the university in October and demanded corrective actions to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
