The customs department at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport confiscated 30 boxes of feminine hygiene maxi pads which were contaminated with radioactive material and were being shipped via Dubai. The reports state that the radioactivity was 35 times more than what is permitted. The pads were manifactured by the company Anion in their point of origin, China, and upon discovery were examined by the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission. The investigation seems to be ongoing.
