Jiangsu Hongbo New Material Co. Ltd located in Nandu Town of Liyang city was utilizing a total of 10 radioactive sources. The sources were abandoned after the company ceased operations in April 2014. On July 14, 2017, following when they became aware of the abandoned sources and supported by Jiangsu Province Nuclear Security Administration, the government dispatched personnel to recover the 10 radioactive sources to the province's urban radioactive waste repository for safe storage.
