CBRN event in Jiangsu, Nanjing area, China on Wed 7th May 2014

While conducting a monitoring operation at a construction site near Puliu, China, the Tianjin Hongdi Engineering Inspection Development Co Ltd discovered that a radioactive source went missing on Wednesday May 7, 2014, although it was not reported until May 9, 2014. The IR192 source was found in Nanjing, Jiangsu on Saturday, May 10 2014 after a response team searched an area 1 kilometer from the site. Four people were arrested in connection to the disappearance of the IR192 source. Later, one of the community construction workers by the name of Wang confessed that he found the bracelet-shaped device laying on the floor and took it, thinking he would use it as a keychain. Afterwards when he heard the police were looking for the radioactive device, he became afraid and discarded the device in a plastic bag near his house.
